At THIN2K we talk about three levels of architecture documentation maturity levels which can be seen as ”maturity levels” for your organization’s architecture documentation. The higher level, the higher maturity. The levels we at THIN2K talk about are:
- Level 1 – Architecture documented in drawing tools like PowerPoint
- Level 2 – Architecture is documented using a tool like Sparx EA
- Level 3 – Architecture is documented using an architecture tool like Sparx EA but following strict rules and always documented the same way
At THIN2K we always aim for Level 3 because it gives us and the organization the ability to analyze and follow up the relationships and dependencies between architecture components within the organization. THIN2K has a goal to make enterprise architecture models analyzable from an organization evolutionary as well as security perspective and hence offer the EAS framework™ and SDM™ to help organizations to create their own highly structured enterprise architecture model. See YouTube channel Enterprise Architecture Security for more information about how to model according to the EAS.
